B
a-(ii), b-(iii), c-(iv), d-(i)
C
a-(iv), b-(iii), c-(i), d-(ii)
D
a-(i), b-(ii), c-(iv), d-(iii)
Solution
Verified by Toppr

a) Whenever copper sulfate or CuSO4 is added to water, it gets dissolved in the water. As CuSO4 is an electrolyte, it splits into Cu2+ (cation) and SO24 (anion) ions and move freely in the solution.

b) The electrode which is connected to the negative terminal of the battery is called the cathode.

c) More than half of the magnesium production is carried out by electrolysis. Magnesium production using aqueous electrolytes is not possible because of the highly stable nature of magnesium ions in water. This leaves molten salt electrolysis of MgCl2 as the electrolytic method for magnesium production.

d) The electrode connected with the positive terminal of the battery is known as anode.

a-(iii), b-(iv), c-(i), d-(ii)

Hence, option A is correct.
