Rhinoceros often abbreviated as rhino, is a group of five extant species of odd-toed ungulates in the family Rhinocerotidae. Two of these species are native to Africa and three to Southern Asia. In India 'Project Rhino' for conservation of rhino was launched in the year 1987 and rhinos are protected in 'Kaziranga National Park' in Jorhat, Assam, Manas Sanctuary, Barpeta in Assam, and Jaldapara sanctuary in Modhirat, Bengal.
