B

Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion

C

Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect

D

Both Assertion and Reason are incorrect

Answer

Assertion - Nowadays, the biodiversity is declining with an accelerated rate. The world is losing species at a rate that is 100 to 1000 times faster than the natural extinction rate. The process towards extinction is mainly caused by habitat degradation, whose effect on biodiversity is worsened by the ongoing human-induced climate change.
Reason - Exotic species are considered to be the major cause of extinction of species. As the species compete for the limited natural resources with the existing local species thus leading to their extinction.
So, the correct answer is 'Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion'.
