Question

On a bulb is written 220 V and 60 W. Find out the resistance of the bulb and the value of the current flowing through it:
  1. 500 Ω and 2 A
  2. 200 Ω and 4 A
  3. 100 Ω and 1 A
  4. 806.67 Ω and 0.27 A

A
806.67 Ω and 0.27 A
B
500 Ω and 2 A
C
200 Ω and 4 A
D
100 Ω and 1 A
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Given,
Power rating of the bulb, P=60 W
Power supply, V=220 V
Resistance, R
Current, I

We know,
Power, P=V2R

R=V2P

R=(2202)60

R=806.67 Ω

According to Ohm's law,
V=IR

I=VR

I=220806.67

I=0.27 A
