Question

On decreasing the wavelength of light, lateral displacement of the emergent ray ................
  1. Decreases
  2. Increases
  3. Remain same
  4. None

A
Decreases
B
Increases
C
None
D
Remain same
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Lateral displacement increases with increase in angle of incidence and also increases with increase in refractive index. since refractive index increases with decrease in wavelength, so does lateral displacement, i.e, lateral displacement is more for violet light than for red.
