Question

Assertion :On increasing the intensity of incident radiation, the photo electrons eject and their KE increases. Reason: Greater the intensity means grater the energy which in turn means grater the frequency of the radiation.
  1. Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
  2. Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion
  3. Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect
  4. Both Assertion and Reason are incorrect

A
Both Assertion and Reason are incorrect
B
Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
C
Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion
D
Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect
Solution
Verified by Toppr

The kinetic energy of the photoelectrons increases linearly with the frequency of incident light. Thus, if the energy of the ejected electrons is plotted as a function of frequency, it result in a straight line whose slope is equal to Planck's constant 'h'.
Greater the intensity means grater the number of radiations, but it doesnt related with frequency.
