Approximately 90 percent of the atmosphere's ozone occurs in the stratosphere, the region extending to 25- 50 km above the earth surface. In the stratosphere, the temperature of the atmosphere rises with increasing height, a phenomenon created by the absorption of solar radiation by the ozone layer.
