Royal Jelly is a secretion of the hypopharyngeal and mandibular glands of the young worker honey bees. The secreted Royal Jelly accumulates into an extra-large brood cell of the hive, called the Queen Cell. This Jelly comprises a good number of essential nutrients, like - water, carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, trace elements, vitamins, amino acids, etc. After hatching from the fertilized eggs, all the larvae of the honey bees consume this nutritious jelly for three days. After three days, the drone larvae stop consumption. Whereas, the queen bee larvae continue to extensively feed upon this Royal Jelly throughout their development period. This special food shapes the morphological features of a queen bee.
