Split the following shapes into rectangles and find the area of each. (The measures are given in centimeters)

From figure we can see that,
By, making line $$BG$$ OR $$DG$$ we can split given figure into two rectangles.
So, from figure,
$$\text{Total Area=Area[(ACDH)+(DEFG)]}$$
$$\text{Area(ACDH) = AC x AH = 11.5 x 2 = 23 cm}^2\cdots\cdots(1)$$

Now, $$GD=EF=\cfrac32\ cm=1.5\ cm$$, as opposite sides of rectangle.

So, $$\text{Area(DEFG) = GD x GF = 1.5 x 8 = 12 cm}^2\cdots\cdots(2)$$

So, from $$(1)$$ and $$(2)$$
$$\text{Total Area = 23+12 = 35 cm}^2$$
