C
Both the Statement 1 and Statement 2 are not correct.
D
Statement 1 is not correct but Statement 2 is correct
E

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Option A is the correct answer.
The entropy of the system is defined as the randomness of the system. More random movement occurs in a system, more is the entropy of the system.
When a solid is dissolved in a solvent, volume increases and hence the randomness of the molecules in the solvent increases. Thus the solution that is formed becomes more random and its entropy increases. We can also say that it becomes less ordered.
Thus statement 1 and 2 are both correct.
