Question

The circumference of the base of a 16m high solid cone is 33m. Find the surface area of the cone.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

The circumference of the base of a cone is 33m.
2πr=33
227×2×r=33
r=33×722×2=3×74=214=5.25m
Now, the height of the cone is 16m.
The slant height l of the cone is l=h2+r2=162+(5.25)2=16.84m
The surface area is π×r×l=277.85m2
