Question

The circumference of the base of cylindrical water tank is 264 cm and its height is 12 cm. Find the cuved surface area of the cylindrical water tank . (Assume π=22/7).
  1. 3168 cm2
  2. 3168 m2
  3. 3168 m2
  4. 3208 cm2

A
3168 m2
B
3208 cm2
C
3168 m2
D
3168 cm2
Solution
Verified by Toppr

The correct option is C 3168 cm2
Circumference of cylinder is C=2πr

It is given that the circumference of water tank is 264 cm, therefore,

C=2πr264=2πrr=2642π=132π

Now, curved surface area of cylinder is A=2πrh

Here, the radius is 132π cm and height is 12 cm.

Thus,

A=2πrh=2π×132π×12=2×132×12=3168 cm2

Hence, the curved surface area of cylindrical water tank is 3168 cm2.
