Biomass is the amount of organic matter which is derived from the living organisms. It is a source of energy and a valuable natural resource which needs to be preserved. Autotrophs are the producers which include all those plants which are used for food and fodder and helps in the production of a huge amount of energy. These autotrophs can be used as a source of energy either by combustion or by converting into different forms like biofuel, coal and paper. Biodiesels are produced by the biomass contributed by the autotrophs. The cellulose is an important structural component of the plant cell wall which can be degraded into series of glucose unit for generation of biomass.
