Question

The length of the rod is 150 cm at 25oCFind its length when it is heated 150oC (α steel = 2.2×105/oC)

Solution
Verified by Toppr

We know that,
L=L0(1+αΔT)
L0 length at 250C=150cm
α= linear expansion coefficient=2.2×105/0C
ΔT=(15025)=1250C
L=150×(1+2.2×105×125)
=150×1.00275
=150.4125cm
We get,
L=150.4125cm
