Question

The length of the shadow will be longest when the
  1. Source of light and the object are perpendicular to each other
  2. Source of light and the object are parallel to each other
  3. Angle between the source of light and the object is 45
  4. Angle between the source of light and the object is 60

A
Angle between the source of light and the object is 45
B
Source of light and the object are parallel to each other
C
Angle between the source of light and the object is 60
D
Source of light and the object are perpendicular to each other
Solution
Verified by Toppr

According to the law of reflection; the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection. Therefore the angle of reflection would be 90o when the angle of incidence is 90o. This will happen when the source of light is perpendicular to the object. Hence the longest image will be formed when the source of light and the object are perpendicular to each other.
