The lid of a rectangular box of sides 40 cm by 10cm is sealed all round with tape. What is the length of the tape required?

Solution
Verified by Toppr

The length of the tape would be equivalent to the perimeter.
Perimeter of a rectangle =2(l+b) where l is the length and b is the breadth of the rectangle.
Perimeter of the box =2(40 cm+10 cm)
=2(50 cm)=100cm

Hence, length of the tape is 100cm
