The monthly salary of a person is Rs $$12,000 $$ and his monthly expenditure is Rs $$ 8,500$$. Find the ratio of his:
salary to expenditure

The monthly salary of a person $$ = Rs. 12,000 $$
Monthly expenditure $$ = Rs. 8,500 $$
Salary to expenditure will be as given below
$$ 12 , 000 : 8, 5000 = \dfrac{12,000}{8,500} $$
On simplification , we get
$$ = \dfrac{120}{85} $$
$$ = \dfrac{24}{17} $$
$$ = 24 : 17 $$
$$ \therefore \, $$ The ratio between salary and expenditure is $$ 24 : 17 $$
