The President is elected by indirect election. An electoral college consisting of the elected members of both houses of Parliament, the elected members of the State Legislative Assemblies of all States and the elected members of the legislative assemblies of two Union Territories (Puducherry and Delhi). The election is held by proportional representation system by single transferable vote method.
