Question

The radii of two cylinders are in the ratio 3:2 and their heights are in the ratio 4:5. Calculate the ratio of their curved surface areas.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Let r1 and r2 be the radii of the cylinders respectively.
r1r2=32

Let h1 and h2 be the heights of the cylinders respectively.
h1h2=45

Ratio of Curved surface areas=2πr1h12πr2h2

=r1h1r2h2

=r1r2×h1h2

=32×45

=1210=65

Hence,ratio of their curved surface areas is 6:5
