Given,

Weight of zinc in the alloy $$ = 9.8 kg $$

The ratio of copper and zinc in an alloy $$= 9:7$$.

Let,

Weight of copper $$ =9x$$

Weight of zinc $$= 7x$$

$$9.8 = 7x$$

$$x = 1.4 kg$$

$$\therefore$$ Weight of copper in the alloy $$ = 9x$$

$$ = 9(1.4)$$

$$= 12.6 kg$$
