Question

The ratio of the base area and the curved surface area of a conical tent is 40:41. If its height is 18 m, find the air capacity of the tent in terms of π.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Let radius of the cone be r and its slant height is equal to l.
Given base areaC.S.A=4041
To Find Air capacity of the tent.

base areaC.S.A=4041
πr2πrl=4041
rl=4041
l=41r40

Also in a cone,
l2=r2+h2(4140)2r2r2=h2811600r2=h2r=409×h=409×18=80m

Volume of air present in the conical tent is equal to volume of the tent so,
Volume of air=13πr2h=13π(80)218=38400π m3
