Alpine region or tundra is the tree-less area on high mountains (above 3500 meters), which has snow for long months. It is physiologically dry because liquid water is not available and most of the year most of the water is frozen into the snow. Hence, plants show xerophytism. Plants include Lichens, Mosses, grasses, herbs, small shrubs ( e.g., Artemesia, Primula, Arenaria, Anemone) and dwarf trees (e.g., Rhododendron, Abies, Juniperus, Picea).
