An ecosystem has two major components: biotic and abiotic components.
  • Biotic components comprise of living organisms that fix light to prepare organic food from inorganic substances. They are divided into autotrophs and heterotrophs. Autotrophs are the producers or green plants whereas heterotrophs include consumers and decomposers.
  • Abiotic components comprise of non living parts of environment and include materials and energy. Materials are water, minerals, salts, atmospheric gases etc. and energy can be light or chemical energy. These abiotic components affect reproduction and other activities of living organisms. The organisms are able to grow, survive and reproduce when conditions like temperature, water, pH, energy etc. are optimum.
Hence, the statement given in the question is correct.
So, the correct answer is 'True'.
