Replication
B
Conjugation
C
Transformation
D
Translation
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Translation is the process of synthesis of polypeptides by polymerization of amino acids on ribosomes using the mRNA triplets as the template. Transformation is the transfer of genetic material from one bacterial strain to other without establishing a physical contact. Conjugation is the transfer of genetic material between two bacterial strains via conjugation tube. DNA replication is the process of synthesis of new DNA molecules using existing DNA strand as the template; the process is carried out by DNA polymerase enzyme which cannot start the DNA synthesis de novo and needs a primer to which it can add monomer units. RNA primer is a stranded segment (complementary to the template) and has a free 3’ hydroxyl group. DNA polymerase enzyme adds deoxyribonucleotides to 3’ hydroxyl end of a primer using the base sequence of parental DNA strand; the correct answer is B.
