The shape of the top surface of a table is trapezium. Find its area if it's parallel sides are $1m$ and $1.2m$ and perpendicular distance between them is $0.8m$.

Given: $a=1m,b=1.2m,h=0.8m$
Area of trapezium

$=\frac{1}{2}\times \text{Sum of Parallel Sides}\times \text{Distance between parallel sides}$

$=\frac{1}{2}\times (a+b)\times h$

$=\frac{1}{2}\times (1+1.2)\times 0.8$

$=\frac{1}{2}\times 2.2\times 0.8$
$=1.1\times 0.8$
$=0.88$ sq. metres
