Question

The side of a rhombus is 10 cm. The smaller diagonal is 13 of the greater diagonal. Find the length of the greater diagonal :
  1. 610cm
  2. 106cm
  3. 65cm
  4. 56cm

A
65cm
B
56cm
C
610cm
D
106cm
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Let x be the length of the greater diagonal.
Then length of smaller diagonal =x3
If we draw the two diagonals, they intersect each other and form a right angle triangle with hypotenuse as the side of rhombus, height is half of the greater diagonal and base will be half of the smaller diagonal.
102=(x2)2+(x6)2
x24+x236=100
40x2=100×36×4
x2=360
x=610 cm
Hence, option A is correct.
