Question

The sum of the total number of bonds between chromium and oxygen atoms in chromate and dichromate ions is ________.

A
18
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Correct option is A. 18

Total $$Cr-O$$ bonds in chromate $$4\sigma$$ and $$2 \pi$$ while in dichromate ion $$8\sigma$$ and $$4\pi$$ bonds.

Hence total $$Cr-O$$ bonds will be $$6+12=18$$
