Question

The total surface area of a cone is 770cm2. If its slant height is four times the radius of the cone, the diameter of the cone is:
  1. 14cm
  2. 7cm
  3. 20cm
  4. 18cm

A
20cm
B
18cm
C
14cm
D
7cm
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Given, the total surface area of cone TSAcone=770cm2.
Also, l=4r.

TSAcone=πrl+πr2=πr×(4r)+πr2
770=5πr2
r2=7705×22×7=49

r=49=7.

Diameter, d=2×7=14cm.

Hence, option A is correct.
