  3. Organophosphate
  4. None of the above

None of the above
Solution
Verified by Toppr

The toxicity of organophosphates is due to the disruption of the nervous system of a vertebrate through the inhibition of cholinesterase (ChE) enzymes. These enzymes are involved in transmitting normal nerve impulses throughout the nervous system. An acute pesticide dose reduces the activity of ChEs and nerve impulses cannot be transmitted normally. This can paralyze the nervous system and it may lead to death, usually from respiratory failure.
