Jammu and Kashmir consist of three regions; Jammu, the Kashmir Valley. Srinagar is the summer capital, and Jammu is the winter capital. The winters are very cold in Srinagar, so during winters Jammu acts as a capital where the winters are not that very harsh as compared to Srinagar.
