Question

Two cells are connected to a load resistor of resistance $$3.0\Omega$$. The electromotive force(e.m.f). and the internal resistance of each of the cells is shown. What is the current in the load resistor?

A
$$0.60$$A
B
$$1.2$$A
C
$$1.8$$A
D
$$3.0$$A
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Correct option is C. $$1.8$$A
Let the current be $$'I'\ A$$
Now , applying KVL in the circuit loop.(anti clockwise)
We have
$$-1.2I +3 -0.8I+6 -3.0I=0$$
$$\implies 5.0I = 9$$
$$\implies I = \dfrac{9}{5.0}$$
$$\implies I = 1.8 A$$
