Question

Two condensers, one of capacity C and the other of capacity C2 , are connected to a V-volt battery, as shown-
The work done in charging fully both the condensers is:
70034.jpg
  1. 12CV2
  2. 2CV2
  3. 14CV2
  4. 34CV2

A
12CV2
B
14CV2
C
34CV2
D
2CV2
Solution
Verified by Toppr

As the capacitors are connected in parallel, therefore potential difference across both the condensors remains the same.
q1=CV,q2=C2V
Also q=q1+q2=CV+C2V=32CV
Work done in charging fully both the condensors is given by
W=12qV=12×(32CV)V=34CV2
