Question

Two earth's satellites are revolving in the same circular orbit round the centre of the earth. They must have the same:

  1. mass
  2. angular momentum
  3. kinetic energy
  4. velocity

A
angular momentum
B
kinetic energy
C
mass
D
velocity
Solution
Verified by Toppr

velocity of an satellite revolving around the earth is GMr
if r of the satellite is same then it is clear that velocity of both the satellite is same irrespective of their mass.
but expression of kinetic energy is 12mv2
and that for the angular velocity is mvr
both of these have mass in these so if a satellite have different mass then both these will be different.
and there is no condition for mass of the satellite for the radius of orbit.
so best possible answer is D.
