Question

Two identical bodies are made of a material for which the heat capacity increase with temperature. One of these is at 100oC, while the other one is at 0oC. If the two bodies are brought into contact, then assuming no heat loss, the final common temperature is
  1. 0oC
  2. less than 50oC but greater than 0oC
  3. 50oC
  4. more than 50oC

A
0oC
B
less than 50oC but greater than 0oC
C
more than 50oC
D
50oC
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Since the heat capacity increases with temperature, less temperature is dropped in higher temperature body when equal amount of heat is transferred from lower temperature body which rises more in temperature.
Hence the final temperature is more than 50.

Q5
Assertion (A): When two bodies P (100oC) and Q (50oC) are brought in contact with each other, heat is transferred from P to Q. Reason (R): Q is hotter than P as heat always flows from the colder body to the hotter body.
