Question

Two right circular cones having same base radius of 2.1 cm but heights 4.1 cm and 4.3 cm are melted and recast into a single sphere Find the radius of the sphere so formed
  1. 2.1 cm
  2. 2 cm
  3. 4.2 cm
  4. 3.1 cm

A
2 cm
B
4.2 cm
C
3.1 cm
D
2.1 cm
Solution
Verified by Toppr

The correct option is A 2.1 cm
Volume of the sphere
43πR3=volumes of the cones of hights h1 and h2 with same radius r
=13πr2(h1+h2)
=13×π×(2.1)2×(8.4)
R3=14×(2.1)2×(8.4)
=(2.1)3
or R=2.1cm
