Question

Using remainder theorem, find the reminder when 3x2+x+7 is divided by x+2
  1. 17
  2. 9
  3. 12
  4. 22

A
22
B
17
C
12
D
9
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Let f(x)=3x2+x+7 and
g(x)=x+2
=>x+2=0
=>x=2
The remainder when f(x) is divided by g(x) is f(2) (By Remainder Theorem)
Thus, f(2)=3(2)2+(2)+7
=122+7
=17
