Question

What are endangered wild species? Describe in short.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

An endangered species is a species (a population) of animals, plants or other organisms that are in danger of becoming extinct. This could happen because there are few of that animal left, its predators have grown in number, or the climate that it lives in is changing, or the places it lives in have been destroyed. The term wildlife refers to any living organism in its natural habitat which includes all plants, animals and microorganisms except cultivated plants and domesticated animals. The wildlife is endangered due to the following reasons:
1) The absence of cover or shelter.
2) Deforestation for cultivation or for urbanisation.
3) Destruction of wild plants for timber, charcoal, firewood, etc.
4) Noise pollution by different transporting media and water pollution in rivers, lakes and streams.
5) Natural calamities such as floods, droughts, fires, epidemics, etc.
6) Hunting methods
