Fossil fuel:- A natural fuel such as coal or petroleum, formed from remains of living organisms buried inside the surface of the earth for millions and millions of years.
Coal and petroleum have been formed from remains of dead plants and animals which have been subjected to various biological and geological processes for many years. Coal is a natural resource that is obtained from the remains of trees and other plants that lived millions of years ago and petroleum is obtained from the remains of dead animals that too lived millions of years ago.
