What are the different methods for sugar cane cultivation?

Sugar cane can be cultivated by using different methods of planting like:

Flat planting: Shallow furrows of 8-10 cm are made and cane is planted.

Furrow planting: Deep furrows of 10-15 cm are made.

Trench planting is done to avoid lodging. Deep furrows 20-25 cms are dug in this method.

Single bud raising method: In this system, single bud set is planted directly in the field in the furrows at 30-45 cm spacing.

Transplanting techniques: Seedlings are primarily raised in nursery from single bud set.

Ring pit method: In the method, the crops are raised in pits at the spacing of 180 cm between rows and 150 cm between individual pits in a row. The pits are dug using specially designed tractor drawn power tillers.
