What are the various routes by which transmission of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus takes place?
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) causes AIDS (Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome). It is spread via following modes of transmission:
1. From an infected mother to her children via the placenta.
2. Unprotected sex (without the use of condoms etc.) with the infected person.
3. Sharing of syringes, needles, blades etc. of an infected person.
4. Transfusion of infected person's blood to a healthy person.
