Question

What is pH of 2×108 M HCl solution?

(Here, log 2=0.301 and log 3=0.477)

  1. 6.92
  2. 5.4
  3. 9.5
  4. 7.7

A
6.92
B
9.5
C
5.4
D
7.7
Solution
Verified by Toppr

As solution is very dilute,
[H+]=[H+]water+[H+]HCl

=107+2×108=12×108

pH=log[12×1018]

=log[22×3×108]

=[2 log(2)+ log(3)+ log(108)= 6.92.

Option A is correct.
