Question

What is Rydberg's constant? what is its value?

Solution
Verified by Toppr

For the calculation of wavelength of spectral lines Rydberg gave a formula and use a constant called Rydberg's constant.
Formula1λ=RZ2(1n221n21)
where
λ= wavelength
R= Rydberg's constant
Z= atomic number of atom
n1 & n2= Integers
The value of Rydberg's constant is 1.0973×107 m1
