Capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor is given by the relation:

⇒ A=Cd∈0
Putting Values:
∴ Area, A=2F×(0.5×10−2m)8.85×10−12=1130km2
Step 2: Conclusion
Here, the area of the plates is too large(1130km2), which is not possible in practical situation.
Therefore, the ordinary capacitors of area few cm2 are normally in range of μF.
However, electrolytic capacitors do have a much larger capacitance 0.1F because of very minute separation between the conductors. As on reducing separation, capacitance increases significantly from equation (1)
