- Temperate cyclones are also called as westerly depressions. These
originate in Mediterranean Sea or Atlantic Ocean which lies in temperate zone.
- These cyclones move towards east towards India under the
influence of westerly jet stream. These cyclones result in rains in the northern
states like Punjab, Haryana and Kashmir in the winter.
