What kind of threats to biodiversity may lead to its loss?
Threats to biodiversity are:- Destruction of habitat which leads to deprivation of shelter and food for animals.
- Pollution which is a subtle form of habitat destruction. Which may reduce and eliminate the population of sensitive species.
Introduction of exotic species- new species may kill or eat native species to the point of extinction or may alter the habitat that many natives are no longer able to persist.
- Disturbance and degradation of habitat-natural disturbances and degradation are caused by spontaneous jungle fire, pest infection deforestation, by an insect, locust attack etcetera. Man-made disturbances and degradation and more severe. They include felling of trees use of fire for clearing forest areas, a collection of litter and overexploitation for other economic important products point disturbances and degradation result in a loss of biodiversity.
