Question

When water is boiled to 100 C, it converts into steam which on condensation gives back water. Here, the heat given out is called latent heat of condensation which is equal to the latent heat of vapourisation.

  1. True
  2. False

A
True
B
False
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Latent heat is defined as the energy required by molecules to change phase at a constant temperature. If the phase change is solid to liquid it is called latent heat of fusion, liquid to gas is latent heat of vapourization, gas to liquid is latent heat of condensation
At 100:
H2O(l)H2O(g)(steam)
H2O(g)H2O(l)
Thus latent heat of vaporization, is same as latent heat of condensation
option A is correct
