A small percentage of elephants have a rare genetic disorder which deprives them of skin pigments and makes their bodies naturally white. Thailand is called the " Land of White Elephants". The white elephants has meaning in the history of Budhha and represents fertility and knowledge. On the evening before giving birth to the Buddha , his mother dreamed of a white elephant presenting her with a lotus symbolizing purity. Today , the white elephant is a symbol of Thailand and symbolizes rule of justice and that there will be peace and prosperity in the country.
