The process of coacervation was famously proposed by Alexander Oparin and J. B. S. Haldane as crucial in his early theory of abiogenesis. Coacervates are considered to be the building blocks of early life. Scientists believe that they evolved by using chemical processes to produce organic compounds from the oceans for food.
