Why parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat and the leeward side of the Western Ghats are drought-prone?

• The parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat and the leeward side of the Western Ghats fall in the rain shadow area of the Aravalli. 
  
• Hence, they are drought prone as they don't receive much of rainfall.
