Question

Why was the narrator unsure of what to do next? What decision did the narrator take? Why?

Solution
Verified by Toppr

The narrator is not used to the improper attitudes of students as presented by the girl running in the school corridor, crashing into him and smiling "impudently" at him. Her fellow students take a moment to look at Braithewaite and then reenter the class room, letting the door snap shut with a bang. The narrator is shocked by this attitude and behaviour of the students and is unsure of his next step. He then decides to take a closer look at what went on in that class room and knocks on the door, opens it and walks in.
